Rod Glover’s botanical collages begin in the quiet act of gathering—plants collected from gardens and local woodlands, pressed and carefully dried before being reassembled into intricate compositions. Though preserved, these works are ephemeral—subtly shifting in color and tone as they continue to age. They are not static and change is not incidental; it is a collaborator, integral to the work. Circles and mandalas anchor some compositions as spiritual maps—symbols of continuity, return, and renewal. Other compositions reflect various styles of art from 20th century modernism or the romantic arrangements of the Victorian era and the early beginnings of botany. Through this reverent engagement with botanical diversity, the work honors both nature’s fragility and resilience.
